Dr Valerio De Rossi has developed his career across offshore operational command and maritime governance.

He served in command of complex dynamically positioned vessels engaged in demanding international offshore operations. He subsequently transitioned to senior executive and board-level roles within international maritime organisations, assuming responsibility for marine operations oversight, regulatory compliance, insurance strategy, marine assurance systems, and fleet governance across multiple jurisdictions.

This progression provides practical insight into operational decision-making under commercial pressure, compliance with Flag and Class frameworks, casualty investigation processes, and the relationship between technical events and contractual risk allocation.

In dispute settings, technical issues are rarely isolated from governance and commercial context.

At executive level, he has overseen the development and implementation of marine compliance structures and assurance systems across multiple jurisdictions, engaging directly with Flag Administrations, Classification Societies, underwriters, and commercial stakeholders.

He has also served as Non-Executive Director of vessel-owning entities incorporated in several jurisdictions, contributing to governance oversight, risk management, and strategic decision-making.

Dr De Rossi holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law (Distinction), a Postgraduate Diploma in Laws (Distinction), and a Doctorate in Professional Studies focused on leadership in high-risk maritime environments.

He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and has completed advanced training in international arbitration, and is a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrations Association (LMAA).

His legal education complements his operational background in areas including contractual interpretation, indemnity structures, marine insurance, regulatory compliance, and classification frameworks.

He accepts appointments subject to strict independence and the absence of actual or perceived conflict.
